In an effort to streamline and improve coordination of large-scale and special event operations, MPD is interested in working with our DC Government partners (specifically permitting agencies), to develop a centralized information portal and repository. This portal would help facilitate information-sharing among stakeholders and provide each agency with insight into the permits and pertinent information of partner agencies relating to large-scale special events. This will ensure that all relevant agencies are collectively involved in the review and approval of large-scale events that affect the District’s resources and streets. For example, an information-sharing portal would prevent approval of a 5K running route where there may major construction, e.g., a large crane that is obstructing the road on the course. Developing a technology solution to improve this coordination among permitting agencies would help agencies better assess resource needs. Ultimately, a solution like this would make the District a more effective, efficient, and safer place to hold and attend events.
